Let’s unzip CakePHP and get this show on the road. Find the latest build file from CakePHP (cake v1.2 6311) and double click it to unzip it. Winzip asks for a folder to unzip into - I’m using c:\apache224\htdocs. Winzip does it thing, extracting and expanding a whole heap of files, creating a folder single folder below \htdocs named cake_1.2.0.6311-beta, complete with a few standard Cake sub-folders underneath. Well then. We've semi-moved over the past few weeks (the real moving will happen next week, after the workshop), the office network is semi-operational (anyone with experience on the subtleties of Gigabit Ethernet, CAT6 and wiring schemes?), and our Daisy workshop started this morning. Six attendees from three different organisations: exactly the audience we had in mind.

I'm psyched. Yesterday, my brother paid a visit to our new offices, and he had a nice remark: "with great offices come great ideas". Speaking as a sociologist, he was referring to the importance of work space on human creativity.

It's now five years (and a bit) that we're running our own company: five years of babysteps, of stumbling forwards while learning to walk. I'm convinced this transition marks exciting changes ahead.
